The Endoform Natural soft tissue 5x5 cm is a type of restorative bioscaffold, specifically an advanced collagen wound dressing, used for the management of various acute and chronic wounds. It is derived from ovine (sheep) forestomach and provides a natural extracellular matrix (ECM) to support the body's own tissue regeneration processes.
Key Features:
Natural Bioscaffold: Endoform Natural provides a porous ECM scaffold that helps facilitate rapid infiltration by epithelial cells and fibroblasts, supporting new tissue formation.
Composition: It retains the natural molecular structure of the ovine ECM, containing more than 150 proteins (including fibronectin, laminin, and elastin) important for wound healing.
Mechanism of Action: The dressing helps to restore the balance of proteases (enzymes) in the wound bed, moving stalled wounds into the proliferative phase of healing.
Ease of Use: When hydrated with wound exudate or sterile saline, the dry material transforms into a soft, conforming sheet that is simple for wound care professionals to apply. It can be trimmed to fit the wound size.
Integration: The bioscaffold is naturally incorporated and remodeled into the wound bed over time, so it does not need to be removed during dressing changes.
Indications for Use
Endoform Natural is indicated for managing a wide range of wounds, including:
Partial and full-thickness wounds
Diabetic, venous, and chronic vascular ulcers
Pressure injuries
Surgical wounds (e.g., donor sites, grafts)
Traumatic wounds (e.g., abrasions, lacerations, skin tears, first- and second-degree burns)
Tunneled/undermined wounds
Draining wounds
Application and Duration
Preparation: The wound bed should be cleansed and debrided as necessary before application.
Application: The dry material is placed in the wound and then rehydrated.
Frequency: It can last in the wound for up to 7 days, depending on the amount of exudate; reassessment is recommended within 72 hours. A non-adherent secondary dressing is typically applied over the Endoform to manage exudate and protect the site.
Precautions: It is contraindicated for patients with a known sensitivity to ovine-derived material, third-degree burns, or wounds with an untreated clinical infection.
